2014-2019: Citizen of the World – 300 portraits

This portrait series is called “Citizen of the World.” The idea developed from linocut portraits (6 x 6 inches) I made of people I met in a community project (“Making Our Mark,” a SKILLS/SNAP collaboration) in spring of 2014. Over the next 5 years I photographed and made linocut prints of many friends, family, and briefly met acquaintances.

The process was to have a conversation with the person and take a photo they approve of. This photo  was used to make the portrait. In exchange for participation, each person got a hand-pulled print of their portrait. Below are some examples of portraits in the project.
