This body of work started as a joke about my hair and how it resembles broccoli sometimes. I became interested in exploring self-portraits and family portraits after I saw a large “Autoportrait” exhibition in Lyon, France in June of 2016. There are family photographs in which I look like my mother or my grandmother. Something recognizable is inherited but we are quite different people. I found my grandmother’s poem, This Aging Chalice, a further inspiration for my exploration. There are twelve relief prints and a small book with my grandmother’s poem.
