Inspired by objects I saw at the Royal Alberta Museum (before the pandemic) such as buttons displayed in drawers, separated by marks on a piece of foam, as well as the indigenous artifacts the museum has in its collection, I used an old shirt as the substrate for my Lino printed and stitched piece. The buttons are from my personal collection acquired from my grandmother and others. The beads and stitching, although not reminiscent of Indigenous beadwork or embroidery, is a tip of the hat to those beautiful artifacts.
